Welcome to the Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR) Note Taker Recruitment website. Note takers are an important part of academic success for students with disabilities. Students who receive this service have disabilities that affect how well they take notes. They are expected to fulfill the same requirements as the rest of the class.
Please submit your sample notes for review through this website. If you are chosen to be the note taker for this course, you will receive a confirmation email and further instructions. Note takers who are eligible receive a stipend of $25/credit hour at the end of the semester, typically $75 for a 3 credit class. To be eligible you must not have worked for UB or the state of New York this calendar year. International students require a US Social Security number and Green Card to be paid.
If you are chosen as the note taker for this class, you agree to:
1) Complete a short training session to improve your note taking skills
2) Take notes that are consistently clear, concise, and complete
3) Deliver the notes to OAR within 24 hours after class for copying, unless another time is arranged
4) Provide back-up notes in the event that you are unable to attend class
5) Maintain the confidentiality of any information you may know about the student with the disability. In most cases, the student prefers to remain anonymous. If you know the name of the student you are taking notes for, please do not share it with anyone other than your course instructor, TA, and OAR staff
6) Notify OAR immediately if you decide to withdraw from the course
By continuing with this Note Taker application process, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to comply with these terms.
